Why MAKO Score™ was built - and who it was built for

For over two decades, I have had the privilege of working alongside Main Street business owners through valuations, transitions, acquisitions, financing challenges, and some of the most important decisions of their lives.
One thing became very clear to me over the years:

Too many business owners spent decades building incredible companies without ever truly being given the tools, clarity, or infrastructure to fully understand the value of what they built.

I met owners who sacrificed weekends, family time, sleep, and certainty to create opportunities for their families, employees, and communities. Owners who carried the weight of payroll, responsibility, and risk every single day.

The SHARKpreneur®
I call these business owners SHARKpreneurs®. Not because they are aggressive. But because they are resilient. They adapt. They survive uncertainty. They keep moving forward no matter how difficult the waters become.

And yet, many were still left trying to navigate growth, financing, succession, or an eventual exit without clear guidance or tools built specifically for Main Street. That never sat right with me.

I remember one husband-and-wife team I worked with. After we reviewed what a potential sale of their business might look like, they sent me a handwritten thank-you. At the end, they wrote:
